Blue? Or red? The addresses in Florence are designed to throw you for a doozy. They follow a color "system" (I use system loosely) where blue numbers correspond to residential addresses and red numbers to businesses and the like. The blue and red numbers do not go in order, either. That means that blue 8 could be next door to red 43. Also, street signs are posted on the sides of buildings on small plaques. So, to find out what street you are on, you must crank you neck to find the plaque, halting all pedestrian traffic. The street system was enough to make my poor Grandma proclaim, "There is no way I could ever be on The Amazing Race!"
