The Italian Alps. We departed Trento this morning and drove up, up, and away to Madonna di Campiglia where we would be meeting our Alpine guides for a scenic hike. The weather was b-e-autiful and perfect for a day on the slopes. There was no shortage of breathtaking views of snow capped mountains. Part of our hike actually was still covered in snow! It was strange to have cold legs in snow and a warm body on top. I only fell in once! It was incredibly peaceful. Neither of the guides spoke English and I actually enjoyed just hiking in solitude and letting the nature speak for itself. I like traveling to new places and doing something. I can only take so much sightseeing and "oohing and ahhing" at the pretty buildings. That's why I loved today! I didn't just see the Alps--I hiked them!
