The Coliseum. What I was looking forward to the whole weekend. The Coliseum does not disappoint: it is huge and stately and has a way of transporting you back to ancient times as a spectator for the gladiatorial fights. It isn't necessarily what I thought it would look like from photos and movies I've seen. It is surrounded my tourists and inundated with vendors hassling you to buy their gladiator bobble heads. We chose to go on a tour of the Coliseum and the Roman Forum for a slightly higher price. It was luckily very worth it. It was incredible how intact all of the relics could remain. I hope there is a next time for Rome. With our short amount of time there, we were restricted to the tourisy areas. I still feel like I haven't truly seen the city, but I'm so glad I was able to see the things I've studied in textbooks for years and years.
